Welcome to my homepage from St. Louis, Missouri. Thank you for taking the time to visit!

I am an immigration lawyer by trade, but my interests extend beyond the law to music, the National Pastime, and my favorite charity, The Salvation Army. What follows, then, is not so much the standard lawyer’s page, but a potpourri that includes a few of my professional and personal interests.

 PROFESSIONAL

First, a word about my practice. It is restricted to Immigration and Nationality Law, and in recent years, I have limited my activities in the field to business and personal/family matters. I focus on serving the needs of individuals, small to medium-sized businesses, and those with problemed or difficult cases.

Please feel free to peruse my résumé.

For your convenience, please take a moment to review some thumbnail sketches of the most frequently used nonimmigrant and immigrant employment-based visa categories.

I am often asked about Seasonal Labor Certification by United States employers from the “Green Industry”.  This sketch will provide Lawn Care, Landscaping, and Irrigation companies with an overview of the process.

From time to time, I have been known to put pen to paper when two of my passions, immigration law and baseball, are the hot topics of the day. Here is a letter I wrote to the editor of USA Today on February 13th, 1996. Here are letters of mine that were published in The Sporting News on April 7th, April 13th, and May 19th, 1997 and again on May 18th, June 9th, June 18th and August 5th, 1998.

 PERSONAL

My love for all creatures canine knows no bounds. Sometimes, if you are in the right place at the right time, one of your dogs can even provide you with an unexpected moment of notoriety. The St. Louis Small Business Journal ran an article a few years ago about people who take their pets to work, and my little dog, Aimee, was featured prominently. Fortunately, city-wide fame has not gone to her head. She remains as sweet and adorable as ever.

The 2006 season produced a great deal of euphoria for the followers of my hometown baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals produced an improbable and most welcome World Championship, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Unfortunately, my favorite team, the  Cleveland Indians , didn’t fare nearly so well.  After a promising 2005, the Indians took a step backwards and finished a lackluster fourth in the American League Central.  Can the Cardinals repeat?  Will the Indians finally fulfill their potential?  It will be a year of great scrutiny for both organizations in 2007.

If the pressures of daily life have you longing for meaningful rest and tranquility, then a holiday in the Swiss countryside is just what you need. Make your way across the Atlantic  to Zürich, and then take a relaxing train ride on the world renowned Swiss Federal Railways to the Village of Lauterbrunnen in the Berner Oberland. Stay at the delightful Minotel Silberhorn, where the Family van Allman will provide you with all of the amenities of Swiss country living. In only a short time, your cares will melt away like the snow on a warm Spring day in the Alps!

Although everyone tries to do their best, some people inevitably fall through the cracks in our society, and that is where The Salvation Army steps in to help. I know of no finer and responsible charitable organization than The Army and the extraordinary people who work or give their time to it. Please take a moment to visit the Army’s homepage -- then, examine your heart, and see what you could do to help them in their most noble and worthy calling.
